Latte!

When we first moved to Colorado in September of 2006, we had Gus and Nikko. We anticipated there would be several times when Nikko would be gone for either training, shows or for breeding purposes. This would leave Gus by himself. We all know that horses don’t really like to be alone.

So, it was our plan to adopt a rescue donkey to keep Gus company when Nikko was away on business. During some rounds with her boss the vet, Julie met a lady who had a donkey rescue and fell in LOVE with this little girl. She truly is remarkable and quite an attention hog. Latte really believes she is a human and will come running to talk to you. She is pretty much attached to your hip when you are out in the pasture and for a while, it was hard to get a good photo of her because we couldn't get far enough away.

She just needs her halter on and she will follow you anywhere – she carries her own lead rope. Her and Gus have become fast friends and developed quite a bond.

Latte is a yearling jenny and it was her mom that was rescued from a neglectful situation. It took some coaxing to get the rescue organization to let her go as they had grown quite fond of her. But, part of a rescue is letting them go. They liked our facilities and situation and decided Latte would have a wonderful life as Gus’ little sis and they were right!
